APOSTILLED DOCUMENTS SERVICE

This service is for customers who require to have their documents certified (or Apostilled) by the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FDCO).

​Apostille Certificates are used to legalise documents for overseas use. If you plan to open a foreign office or branch, or set up an overseas business bank account for a UK limited company, you will have to get certain company documents legalised.
A separate Apostille Certificate will be required for each document.​

What does Apostille mean?
Apostille is a term commonly used to refer to the legalisation of official documents for use in other countries. This process is carried out by a notary certifying a document and the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office attaching the Apostille Certificate.

Why would I need documents Apostilled?
Official documents are Apostilled in order to certify the authenticity of the documents. This allows official UK documents to be used overseas.

Which countries accept Apostilled documents?
There are currently 122 countries party to the 1961 Hague Convention. We are unable to advise whether or not institutions in any country not party to the Convention would accept Apostilled documents.
Apostilled documents cannot be used in the country in which they have been issued. It can only be used to certify documents abroad.

​Is there a limit to how many documents I can have Apostilled?
There is no limit to the number of documents which can be legalised at one time.
The Memorandum & Articles of Association are considered to be one document for Apostille purposes. All other documents will require separate Apostille Certificates.
How will my Apostilled documents be delivered?
​Your documents will be delivered by Tracked and Signed service, for an additional cost.
Premium couriers such as DHL are also available at an additional charge.
